The Minnesota Gophers pulled out a three overtime victory at UNLV on Thursday. Before the game the hashtag #vivalasgophers was unleashed on the world, and UNLV fans had some fun tailgating.

The ZBT fraternity and a possibly a loose affiliation with something called “The Rebellion” which a student fan group, converted Airstream Trailer in a great tailgating setup. The Local Fox Station did a good job of covering it.

This appears to be a pretty solid keg stand

I hate DJs at tailgates and really everywhere

But these girls probably like them

The opening Thursday of college football season was weird. Devoid of any key matchup and full of schools playing on Thursday so they could be broadcast online at espn360 espn3 WatchESPN.com. Then there was the debacle of Western Kentucky playing a home game against Kentucky in Nashville, TN on a Thursday. But like most opening weekend games, it was an even mix of prime time programs and cupcakes getting their 15 minutes. Here are the photos to prove it.

Arizona State girls resorting to costumes and/or ecstasy to liven up a matchup with UC Davis

Oh you’re not using that ketchup dispenser? I have a semi practical use for it.

There are many a Chippewa fan in Mount Pleasant that dropped the ball and didn’t figure out a way to invite this girl to their tailgate.

Temple and Villanova both apparently play football in addition to basketball. I haven’t bothered to fact check this, but it’s possible they play for something call the Mayor’s Cup or something like that. It’s Always Sunny should start sponsoring this game to coincide with the start of their new seasons. Anyways, props to hardcores who tailgate and presumably watch that display of athleticism.

Murray State made the trip north to play instate rival Louisville. No word yet on whether the Racers will be hosting the Cardinals in a rematch next year in Nashville.

What’s worse than taking a picture of a bunch of sorority girls tailgating? Apparently nothing if you ask the “frattastic” young man from Eastern Kentucky that was charged with snapping a pic of this group of girls. Either that or he’s telling them that they are #1.

A couple years ago we posted the photo on the right of a LSU coed who had painted herself like a tiger and made the decision to not be burdened with excess clothing. It’s certainly an intriguing look and has brought many a vistor to our site. But you’d imagine that this was a one time deal for a particularly big game early in the season. Well LSU fans are cut from a different cloth and laugh at your silly preconceived notions. I was recently lead to an article by GQ on the the worst fans in sports. And alongside their writeup on LSU they had a different photo of the LSU Tiger Girl along with a friend in a matching costume. The photo is taken in a dome so we can conclude that she wore the outfit at least again and most likely in December or January. You have to admire her dedication and self confidence.

If you’re wondering if that’s a stripper pole attached to a trailer hitch… it is. For just $500 you can get a stripper pole and platform that fit on a standard tailgate hitch. For the record

“The Hitch Pole frame and stage is made of the highest quality steel which allows it to support to 200 lbs.”

I guess I’m a glass half empty guy, but wouldn’t a better design be for the pole to only support about 150 pounds? Do you really want a girl hovering around the deuce mark on a stripper pole anyway? Or should I be optimistic and realize that the pole could hold two 90 pound girls? I’m guessing we’re about a month away from one of these showing up at a LSU tailgate.
