This Taylor Takes a Taste post has the best visual representation I’ve seen online of what tailgating in The Grove is like. The photos are extensive and really well shot. The sea of tents, elaborate table settings, girls, food, and the plethora of bow ties are all covered. Taylor visited 10 schools last year and is hitting up 12 more campuses this year on his college town tour. Hopefully, every trip is this entertaining.
Check out this story about a tailgating weekend in Knoxville over on SEC Sports Fan. Highlights include:
10:56 a.m. After a successful stint at the Tap Room (since we weren’t asked to leave this time) we headed up to our old stomping grounds, the Longbranch Saloon, for our traditional PBR tall boy. After I ordered the beers, an LSU fan smiled, shook my hand and said, “You two are the only people under 60 years of age I have ever seen order a PBR.” I offered to buy him one, and he politely refused, so I told Coach B, “For the first time in the history of the SEC, an LSU fan has turned down a free beer. Call hell and see what the temperature is.”
There aren’t hipsters in Baton Rouge? The boys also have this advice…
One thing I should mention to all SEC fans is to properly display your car flags. When driving to the game, always observe the two flag minimum. Flying only one flag makes you look like either a Yankee, or my third cousin Cliff, who likes to make his own leather belts.
As is the tradition now, college football opens on the Thursday before Labor Day Weekend. It started as a television showcase for a few teams several years back and has evolved into a bit of an unexplained phenomenon. By my count, 13 games were played last night despite not getting national television coverage. Somehow, Middle Tennessee State once again convinced a major team (Minnesota) to travel to Murfreesboro, but they couldn’t even get the stadium more than about half full. Either way, some fans still made it out to the array of college games and tailgated on a school night and we salute them.
I actually need to return this. I was trying to get an extra large chair.
For the first game in the school's history, Georgia State had a very impressive turnout of tailgaters
If Dr. Peter Venkman went to Iowa State, this would be his tailgating car.
I admire the hustle by these Ohio State fans, but setting up a TV for a Thursday game seems like overkill. Just talk about football. There's no real need to catch the 6pm Sportscenter
I’m gonna go ahead and tell you that this post isn’t especially safe for work. But, alas, these are Oregon State fans tailgating with some colorful shirts.

If you didn’t catch the last reference. It’s from a Youtube video in 2007 that was on the front end on the New Jersey Guido craze.
